2007 - 2017

Here lies the earthly remains of Dakota
A Potcake born February 2007 in the wilds of Turks and Caicos
A tiny brave puppy who rescued us his family April 2007

Grown into a regal Foxhound
Dakota, Dman, Boo-Bah, Bubba, Mister, Coda, Puppy, Pup, he knew them all, and another 1,000 words
Most of all, he knew he was Man's Best Friend
Traveled the world, flew the skies, walked the big cities, sailed the seas
Happiest on the forests' trails, always leading the way, smelling every thing, his true home
A friend to everyone he met

Crossed the Rainbow Bridge September 3, 2017
His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him, until the last of them become, like him,
A faint whisper in the leaves, A faint footfall in the forest

If I should ever leave you Whom I love, To go along the Silent Way,
Grieve not, Nor speak of me with tears,
But laugh and talk of me as if I were beside you there

(I'd come - I'd come, could I but find a way! But would not tears and grief be barriers?)
And when you walk a path or see a place I loved, please do not let the thought of me be sad...
For I am loving you just as I always have...You were so good to me!

There are so many places I wanted still to go - So many things still to see...
Remember that I did not fear...It was leaving you that was so hard to face...
We cannot see Beyond...But this I know: I loved you so - 'twas heaven here with you!

If you can start the day without caffeine, if you can get going without pills
If you can always be cheerful, ignoring aches and pains
If you can resist complaining and boring people with your troubles
If you can say hello to everyone as if it was the best thing ever
If you can eat the same food every day and be grateful for it
If you can relax without liquor, if you can sleep without drugs
If you can understand when your loved ones are too busy to give you any time
If you can take criticism and blame without resentment, even when it's not your fault
If you can face the world without lies and deceit
If you have no prejudice against anyone

Then, my friend, you are almost as good as your dog
