Baby daCunha

2022

Baby daCunha, feline daughter of Thomas & Kelly daCunha II, of Wethersfield, CT, passed away peacefully in her father’s arms on October 10, 2022 at 4:22PM after a period of failing health. Baby was adopted into the daCunha family on March 15, 2015 at between 5 and 9 years of age. Baby was an amazing cat, the most endearing companion, and a constant source of comfort and peace to her family.

Baby’s favorite pastimes included sleeping, purring, chasing a red laser dot that would appear out of thin air, licking plastic bags, and watching birds outside the window. Baby was a regular at the dinner table, waiting patiently on the floor for her parents to offer her bits of food from their plates. Her favorite foods included roasted turkey, extra crispy bacon, and chunk-lite tuna. Baby enjoyed summer naps on the hammock with her parents, watching her dad mow the lawn, and laying in between her parents’ legs while they washed the dishes. Baby loved the bathmat and would often be found waiting on it, regardless of whether or not someone was taking a shower. Baby’s favorite time of day was bedtime. She couldn’t wait to snuggle in between her parents’ heads, watching over them as they slept. Baby had a keen love for the holiday season. She enjoyed her annual field trip around town to capture the perfect Christmas card photo and spent countless hours lying beneath the Christmas tree.

Prior to her retirement, Baby served a prestigious veterinary clinic as a model for print and electronic marketing advertisements.

Baby will be remembered for her constant purring, snuggles, and meows. She was the best cat for which a person could ask. Her passing leaves holes in the hearts of all who knew her.

Baby leaves her parents to mourn her passing, Thomas & Kelly daCunha II, of Wethersfield. In addition to her parents, Baby is survived by her brother, Thomas J. daCunha III, and many beloved family and friends, all of whom adored her.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of Fox Memorial Clinic for their compassionate care to Baby through the years and especially during her period of illness; to the staff of Dunn Rite & Connelly Catsitting Company, Inc.; Rizzio & Rizzio Catsitting, LLC; and Kovanda Companions; all for their dedicated cat sitting and lodging services through the years.

Funeral services for Baby will take place privately at the convenience of the family. Interment will take place in the family plot at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Baby’s memory to her alma mater, the Connecticut Humane Society, Fox Memorial Clinic, 701 Russell Road, Newington, CT.
