Goodbye to Our Oldest and Dearest Friend

Our hearts still ache in sadness,

And secret tears still flow.

What it meant to lose you,

No one will ever know.

Few people are so fortunate to have had the love and companionship
of their best friend for so many years. We have been so lucky for 18 years. It has made the good-byes all the more difficult.

You had been a part of our lives for so long that we can't remember a time without you. You entertained our children and their friends at grade school sleepovers and welcomed them all home on college weekends. And although you were too frail to play with him, you had met our little grandson and so graciously allowed him to sit in your little bed when he insisted.

You were there for so many occasions, so many memories!

It has been two weeks now and we are only just begining to feel the weight of your passing. We still see you in your little bed and still hear you in the night. We still expect to be greeted in the morning and whenever we come home. We see you in our dreams and get to hold you again - and just for a little while, it feels so real. You certainly made your mark!

You have left little doggie footprints on our hearts that will forever remain and we are grateful. You departed this world in the same quiet way you lived in it...always trying to please. Thats you.

We hope you are pain free and chasing after Lilly. We know you had missed her for a long time and she missed you too. Someday we will all be together again.

Meet you at the Bridge...
Love you and miss you forever,
Mom and Dad
