Gideon

2014 - 2021

On May 11th 2021, our sweet Gideon Goodboy left us peacefully with his whole human family by his side. Despite having two complete novices for owners, he was the epitome of a good dog. He had the purest soul, the most gentle manner, and he was our very first baby. Even once we had our girls, he remained one of the kids, becoming Emelia's very best friend.
I'm not sure how we'll begin to navigate living life without him. Right now I'm finding comfort in the great amount of fur he's left behind, and his toys still strewn under the kitchen table.
I think a lot of people who get puppies and dogs have a moment when it hits them that one day, some day, there will come a time when their dog will leave this earth. For me, that realization hit when he was just a little guy, just a few months old, and I scooped him up and pressed my face into his soft fur and reminded myself that it's worth it. It's worth it to have the magnificent love of a dog, even though it will one day come to an end, so much sooner than is fair. Gideon's seven years with us were filled with magic, love, laughter, slobber, head bonks, and approximately 50,000 hours of snuggles with all of us. By and large, he was the greatest dog I've ever known, and he will always be remembered that way.
