Maximus
2015 - 2026
For Maximus — My Boy, My Constant 🐾
2015 – August 8, 2026
You came into my life in 2015,
but I never could have known then
just how much of my life
you would become.
You were there through the changes,
the struggles, the tears,
the laughter, the quiet nights,
and the days I didn’t know
how I was going to keep going.
And somehow, Maximus,
you always knew.
You didn’t need words.
You just stayed.
For eleven years,
you were my shadow,
my comfort,
my protector,
my family,
and one of the most constant loves
I have ever known.
Today, cancer made me face
the decision I never wanted to make.
I had to let you go.
And God, it hurt.
My heart wanted to keep you here forever,
but loving you meant I couldn’t ask you
to stay in pain just because
I wasn’t ready to live without you.
So I held all my love for you
inside the hardest goodbye
I’ve ever had to give.
Please know, my sweet boy,
I didn’t give up on you.
I set you free.
Free from the cancer.
Free from the pain.
Free from a body that could no longer
carry the beautiful soul inside it.
But you didn’t leave me empty-handed.
You left paw prints
across eleven years of my life.
You left memories in my home,
in my pictures,
in my routines,
and in places in my heart
that will always belong only to you.
There will never be another Maximus.
You knew versions of me
that no one else ever will.
You walked beside me through chapters
that only you and I truly understand.
And if love alone
could have kept you alive,
you would have lived forever.
So rest now, my baby.
No more hurting.
No more sickness.
No more cancer.
Run free with strong legs
and a peaceful heart.
And wherever you are,
I hope somehow you know
that being yours was one of the greatest gifts
life ever gave me.
From 2015 until your final breath,
you were loved.
And from your final breath
until mine…
you still will be.
Until we find each other again,
sleep peacefully, Maximus. 🐾🤍
You weren’t just my dog.
You were part of my life,
part of my story,
and forever part of me.
