Sassy

2009 - 2023

Sassy (age 13 1/2) passed away at home on March 1st, 2023. She was born in Tennessee, summer of 2009 and was rescued by PAWS New England. Sassy made the journey by R.V., through a snow storm, from Tennessee to Rhode Island in January 2011 and was picked up by Michael and Jeanna DaCosta at the La Quinta Inn.

Besides her paw-rents, Mike and Jeanna, she had a feline sister, Jackie, whom she loved. Sassy leaves behind her Uncle Scotty, who took care of her anytime she needed, including staying overnight with her when the parents were away. Sassy was picky with her humans but she loved her grandpa, João Luis, her Aunty Sharon, cousin, Kenny, and her buddy, Dave, who always brought her biscuits. Sassy also loved her furry cousins, McCoy, Hazel, Tyson, and Nash. Sadly McCoy passed away the day before Sassy and they have reunited at the Rainbow Bridge.

Sassy enjoyed going for walks and exploring, especially at the BCC Pond and Colt State Park. She loved treats and was a sucker for pizza crusts. She enjoyed getting an ice cream after a hot summer walk. She also enjoyed visiting vovô and vovó, Paulo and Esmeralda’s, house on Sundays to lie in the sun and chase the cars with Hazel and Tyson.

Sassy was a very special dog and will be missed dearly by all of us. Her spirit remains with us. Her ashes will be scattered at a private ceremony with her favorite humans. Special thanks to Dr. Julie Ross for taking such good care of our Sassy girl.
